Calcium Falls Out of Water for New York State Manufacturer
/in FlowMark News, Project Profile /by Richard EscueA large New York State Manufacturer sees firsthand how well the Web Induction Pulsed Power Water Treatment System manufactured by FlowMark removes calcium carbonate from high conductivity water (about 1550 micro-siemens). FlowMark systems promotes the formation of calcium carbonate seed crystals in the treated water which fall out of solution in quiet areas of the cooling tower system instead of plating out as hard scale deposits inside the chiller or on the tower fill. In the photo above one can notice the large amounts of loose granulated calcium carbonate on the tower basin floor and the absence of any scale in the tower fill.
The loose granulated calcium carbonate is easily removed by manual cleaning.
Plaza Resort & Spa Goes Green
/in FlowMark News, Project Profile /by Richard EscueIn effort to save water and reduce their environmental footprint, the Plaza Resort & Spa in Daytona Beach, Fl. has changed the way they treat their cooling tower water. Waterhouse Corporation of Deltona, Fl. was contracted to replace the existing chemical water treatment program on 5 cooling towers with chemical free systems manufactured by Flow-Mark Water Treatment of Daytona Beach, Fl.
The FlowMark Pulsed Power Systems allow the cooling towers to operate at higher cycles of concentration which saves an enormous amount of water that was previously being wasted. FlowMark’s Advanced Oxidation Process provides the biological control, killing bacteria including Legionella, viruses, fungi and mold. The cooling tower water is now crystal clear and safe.
Comfort Inn Boston / Logan Installs FlowMark
/in FlowMark News, Project Profile /by Richard EscueComfort Inn Boston / Logan Installs Chemical-Free Electronic Water Treatment System for Cooling Towers & Heat Exchanger
The Comfort Inn & Suites Boston/Logan International Airport has installed a FlowMark “chemical-free” (also called “pulsed-power”) water treatment system for its cooling tower and heat exchanger. The FlowMark system, installed by Conservation Solutions Corporation (CSC), has sharply cut water use and eliminated the need for hazardous chemicals to control calcium, bacteria, scale, corrosion and biofilm.
“Chemical-free” water treatment systems are used to treat cooling towers, chillers, heat exchangers and evaporative condensers. They replace chemicals with an electronic field. “Chemical-free” systems have the best payback for hotels with cooling towers and chillers.
The Comfort Inn’s new system cost $6,300 to install and saves the hotel roughly $5,685 per year.
Financial Summary
Annual Water & Sewer Savings $2,724
Annual Chemical Savings 2,400
Annual Electricity Savings 366
Annual Maintenance Contract Savings 195
Total Savings: $5,685
Simple Payback: 1.1 years
Return on Investment (ROI): 89.8%

PROJECT PROFILE MEDICAL BUILDING
/in Project Profile /by Richard EscueIn October 2013 a FlowMark model Mark-III was installed on the 6” diameter PVC riser of a 300 ton evaporative condenser at a medical building in Lake Marry Florida. All chemical treatment was discontinued.
Over the course of 12 months the conductivity bleed set point was gradually increased to attain maximum water savings. Cycles of concentration by chlorides were increased from 4.1 to 14.5 with no new scale forming.
FlowMark Replaces Chemicals
/in FlowMark News, Project Profile /by Richard EscueIn October 2013 a side by side study comparing FlowMark Electronic Water Treatment to conventional chemical water treatment began at a prominent insurance company in New York. Towers 1 & 2 remained on chemical treatment and a FlowMark Electronic Water Treatment System model Mark-III was installed on the 6” steel condenser water pipe feeding towers 3 & 4. All chemical treatments to towers 3 & 4 were discontinued. This document details findings following the 9 month comparison.
